Webinar on “Empowering Women in Energy Sector through Development of Gender Inclusive Policy Guidelines” was organized by the SAARC Energy Centre (SEC), Islamabad, Pakistan, on 23rd June, 2026, from 1000 hrs to 1130 hrs (PKT).
The major objective of this webinar was to share knowledge among the professionals of energy sector especially across the SAARC Region about Empowering Women in Energy Sector through policy support.
The webinar covered the following key areas:
- Status of women participation in the SAARC Region
- Current policy landscape across SAARC which highlighted existing policies, plans, guidelines
- Barriers and key challenges of gender inclusion in energy sector
- Tackling the issues through different measures viz. Political commitment, policy commitment, benchmark establishment, implementation, monitoring and creating the gender friendly environment
- Regional Action agenda and way forward that needs to be considered by SAARC Member States
