The SAARC Energy Centre (SEC) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) convened a virtual meeting on 01 June 2026 to deliberate upon the Action Plan under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between SAARC and IRENA.
During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the field of renewable energy. They agreed to extend mutual support in addressing emerging challenges and to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation, with particular emphasis on knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and the promotion of sustainable energy solutions across the region.
This engagement reflects the shared vision of SAARC and IRENA to advance regional energy security, accelerate the transition towards clean energy, and foster resilience against climate-related challenges
