Scheduling of wind and solar power projects is becoming a defining operational challenge across the SAARC region, as Member States scale up Variable Renewable Energy capacity and grid operators grapple with integrating intermittent generation reliably. The objective of this webinar was to introduce participants to the technical know-how of scheduling wind and solar power projects, the tools used to forecast and optimize their output, and the regulatory frameworks shaping how power systems across the region manage this transition.
The webinar was conducted by SEC on 30th July, 2026. During this webinar, the expert from India discussed the evolution of forecasting and deviation settlement mechanisms, including India’s Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) regulations, as well as the practical challenges facing Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and grid operators in building the scheduling capacity needed to support a fast-growing renewable energy base in the region.
